Digipak's & Advertisement

Image result for digipak advertisement jay zA digipak is a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs. Here is the advertisement for Jay-Z's new album at the time, The Blueprint 3. It contains the record label, artists name, release date, website, artwork and album title. This hip hop advert contains less written features compared to other advertisements campaigns such as Ed Sheeran's. The albums artwork takes up most of the space on the page, which focuses on attracting the audience with visuals instead of reviews, ratings or persuasive writing. This may be due to the artists image and he can rely on his audience to appreciate his style, instead of relying on other big acts to feature.

Image result for jay z american gangsterThe artists name appears at the very top of the page, which is very common for advertisement as the positioning makes it the main informant, showing the audience who's album it is. The audience would recognise that the font used fort the album has previously been used on album titles such as "American Gangster" (2007). The font comes across as dominant and bold, showing power and a purpose. This is familiar within the artists genre as everyone is trying to be the biggest and the greatest. The artwork is directly in the middle of the page and takes up most of the page. It is an image of a collection of studio equipment all in white with three red strokes going across the image. This makes the advertisement more eye catching. The contradicting colours draw the audiences in.

The website can be seen at the bottom of the page which shows that it is the least important bit of promotion. However, it promotes a way of keeping informed about the latest news on the artist. As it isn't the main thing being promoted it is in a faint and small font on the page. The record label uses its flagship logo on the cover and is seen beneath the website. The colours of the record label match the colour scheme of the ad.
